Turkish Authorities Arrest Suspected ISIS Member

(MENAFN) Turkish security forces have apprehended a suspected ISIS (Daesh) operative who was allegedly plotting an attack for New Year’s, according to official sources.

Türkiye’s National Intelligence Organization (MIT), in collaboration with police units, arrested the individual — named Ibrahim Burtakucin — in the eastern province of Malatya.

Investigations revealed that Burtakucin had been active in Türkiye on behalf of ISIS and had attempted to travel to conflict zones to join the militant organization whenever possible.

Authorities also believe that he maintained communications with numerous ISIS supporters both within Türkiye and internationally.

During the operation, law enforcement officials confiscated digital devices and prohibited publications associated with the suspect and the terrorist organization.
